Ardcath I.C.A. Guild was founded in 1948. The first meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Gargan, Newtown, Stamullen, on 12 March 1948. The official Annual Report for 1948, which was submitted to I.C.A. Headquarters, showed a total of 29 members in the Guild. The Guild was founded with the objective of bringing women together in fellowship and, through co-operative effort, to develop and improve the standard of rural life in the area, having regard for Irish culture and encouraging the use of the Irish language in the affairs of Bantracht na Tuaithe (Irish Countrywomen's Association).
