Ardcath Festival 2010 got off to a great start on Wednesday night last with a Poker Classic. Many thanks to all who supported this event, it was a huge success. The line up of events for the coming week includes a Whist Drive on Monday at 9pm in Bennett’s and a Table Quiz on Friday night €40 including refreshments. Your support is appreciated. Sunday September 12th Patron Sunday Mass and blessing of Graves will take place in Ardcath cemetery at 2pm. Field Day in Masterson Park after Mass including Side Shows, a Pet Show, Live Music & Dance, Children’s Races, Football Matches and a Pig on the Spit. Something for all the family. I look forward to seeing you all there! Ardcath Cemetery Committee at their recent meeting passed a vote of sympathy to the Dunican family on the death of Father Seamus Dunican a native of Ardcath. Ardcath ICA meeting next Wednesday night the 8th of September at 8pm in Bennett’s in Ardcath. Clonalvy Tractor Run: Clonalvy National School’s Parents Association are organizing a Tractor Run on Sunday September 5th to raise funds for Clonalvy National School. The tractors will assemble in the field opposite the school at 12.00noon. There will be refreshments for the drivers before they start. It will last about 2 hours with a half hour break in Bellewstown. It will finish at Donnelly’s in Cloghertown at approximately 2.00pm. There will be a raffle and plenty of prizes on the day. Entry fee €20. All drivers must have their own insurance cover. Curraha Parish and Pakistan Flood Relief Fundraiser: Gardens of Curraha, four delightful gardens will be on view in Curraha Village on September 11th 2010. These four very different gardens will be open to the public in aid of Pakistan Flood Relief and Parish Funds. The gardens are owned by Seamus & Patricia Smith, Mary & Fergus Carey, James and Margaret Nugent and Tony and Dolores McEntee. Gardens open from 11am to 5pm. Suggested donations of €15 to €20 euro per person or €30 per family to include entrance to all four gardens and refreshments. St Andrew’s National School Curraha wish to inform parents that registration for 2011 and 2012 is now taking place. A New Day Centre for adults with intellectual disability in Duleek. East Meath Families are holding a meeting to discuss responses from the HSE and the Talbot group to questions raised about the centre. It is a one year course which begins in October and ends in July, 2011. Those who complete the Course successfully will receive a Diploma from Maryvale Institute in Birmingham. It is a distance learning course i.e. students study at home, using materials provided by Maryvale Institute.
